Microsoft: Xbox 720 details at CES 2012

The Xbox 360 will soon be replaced by another generation of gaming platform from Microsoft, and whether you like this or not, it’s coming much sooner than some gamers think, although not as soon as some reporters and apparent insiders claim.

We’ve seen some wild claims today that push an idea of the Xbox 720, as many of us have come to know it, unveiling at CES 2012. While we cannot rule this rumor out, it’s one of the most wild we’ve heard and an almost impossibility. The Xbox 360 still has a lot of life left in it, although the clock is ticking and we’re pretty sure Microsoft would want to one-up Sony again with a release date first.

The CES 2012 rumor comes from a French website named “XBOXYGEN”, and their article can be found here. You can simply use Google translate if you cannot read French. What do you make of this rumor pointing to a January 12, 2012 unveil for the next-Xbox?

An article on Velocity Gamer considers what might happen to the Kinect when a new generation is released? The device rocked when we first saw it unveiled at a London event, and while we’ve been to many parties that love to make you the controller, the accessory never took off with the hardcore gamer that prefers buttons. Would we see a built-in option with Xbox 720, or could the accessory become a past thought in the next-generation?

Have a read of the above rumors and considerations, and then let us know your expectations for the next Xbox.
